Jillian Michaels helps you get the results you want to see
Exercise Difficulty: Beginner to Advanced
Exercise Focus: Full Body Training
This is my favorite Jillian Michaels DVD so far. This has a little of everything, can be adapted to all levels, and packs it all in 20 minutes.
30 Day Shred has a good introduction to the program at the beginning of the dvd, before the workout starts… So, you don’t have to re-watch the explanation every time you go to exercise with this dvd. Love it! (Sometimes I think exercise dvd makers forget that they are creating a product that will be used multiple times in the home. Some information becomes annoying when you have to keep listening to it.)
This dvd includes 3 workouts: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. Each workout includes a warm-up, two circuits, and a sculpting session. The levels progress in difficulty as you move up, but each level also has a modification for beginners or advanced fitness levels. You should be able to adapt this to your fitness level and progress up as you continue to use the program. (Level 1 felt a little slow the first time, but my shoulders were sure sore the next day!)
Jillian is also using the same basic exercises for each workout, so you can see the evolution of an exercise as you progress in skill throughout the levels. (I really liked being able to make this connection.) So you’ll see exercises repeat in each level with a more advanced option, adding more movements into one exercise. This increases the challenge and the impact.
Also, for you fitness folks that are looking for a low-impact option, most exercises in these workouts have a low-impact option but not all. I would call this a low-impact workout, but not a truly no-impact workout.
By the time you add in the Warm Up and Cool Down the exercise time for each level is about 27 min. Still a great workout time for a full body work out. For muscle confusion, you wouldn’t want to do the same level everyday. So, you could mix it up with another level or another workout option.
30 Day Shred is also marketed as a full fitness program. There is a meal plan (Meal plan for Ripped in 30) that can be accessed through the website. It gives you a basic menu for the month and a few recipes. It’s a good start, but not a lot of education or support.
Overall, this is a great full body workout package in a very doable bundle! Who can’t find 25 minutes for your health??
